Patch ID: VRTSdbac-6.0.500.100 * 3952996 (3952988) Support for RHEL6.x RETPOLINE kernels. DETAILS OF INCIDENTS FIXED BY THE PATCH --------------------------------------- This patch fixes the following incidents: Patch ID: VRTSdbac-6.0.500.300 * 3952512 (Tracking ID: 3951435) SYMPTOM: RHEL6.x RETPOLINE kernels and RHEL 6.10 are not supported DESCRIPTION: Red Hat has released RHEL 6.10 which has RETPOLINE kernel, and also released RETPOLINE kernels for older RHEL6.x Updates. Veritas Cluster Server kernel modules need to be recompiled with RETPOLINE aware GCC to support RETPOLINE kernel. RESOLUTION: Support for RHEL 6.10 and RETPOLINE kernels on RHEL6.x kernels is now introduced. Patch ID: VRTSdbac-6.0.500.100 * 3952996 (Tracking ID: 3952988) SYMPTOM: RHEL6.x RETPOLINE kernels are not supported. DESCRIPTION: Red Hat has released RETPOLINE kernel for older RHEL6.x releases. Veritas Cluster Server kernel modules need to be recompiled with RETPOLINE aware GCC to support RETPOLINE kernel. RESOLUTION: Support for RETPOLINE kernels on RHEL6.x kernels is now introduced. INSTALLING THE PATCH -------------------- Run the Installer script to automatically install the patch: ----------------------------------------------------------- Please be noted that the installation of this P-Patch will cause downtime. To install the patch perform the following steps on at least one node in the cluster: 1. Copy the patch sfrac-rhel6_x86_64-Patch-6.0.5.300.tar.gz to /tmp 2. Untar sfrac-rhel6_x86_64-Patch-6.0.5.300.tar.gz to /tmp/hf # mkdir /tmp/hf # cd /tmp/hf # gunzip /tmp/sfrac-rhel6_x86_64-Patch-6.0.5.300.tar.gz # tar xf /tmp/sfrac-rhel6_x86_64-Patch-6.0.5.300.tar 3. Install the hotfix(Please be noted that the installation of this P-Patch will cause downtime.) # pwd /tmp/hf # ./installSFRAC605P3 [ ...] You can also install this patch together with 6.0.1 GA release and 6.0.5 Patch release # ./installSFRAC605P3 -base_path [<601 path>] -mr_path [<605 path>] [ ...] where the -mr_path should point to the 6.0.5 image directory, while -base_path to the 6.0.1 image. Install the patch manually: -------------------------- * To apply the patch manually, perform the steps listed below on each node in the cluster. Install the patch manually: -------------------------- 1. Stop VCS and vcsmm: #hastop -local -force #/etc/init.d/vcsmm stop 2. Apply the VRTSdbac patch by issuing the following commands: a. Remove the old VRTSdbac # rpm -e VRTSdbac b. Install the new RPM # rpm -ivh VRTSdbac-6.0.500.300-Linux_RHEL6.x86_64.rpm 3. Verify that the new patch is installed. The output of the following command should display the version for VRTSdbac package as 6.0.500.300: # rpm -q VRTSdbac 4. Start vcsmm and VCS: #/etc/init.d/vcsmm start # hastart REMOVING THE PATCH ------------------ Removal of the patch will result in removing the whole package from the system/node. To go back to a previous installed version of the package, you may need to re-install the package. Run the following steps on the node where the patch is being uninstalled: To remove the patch from a cluster node: --------------------------------------------- 1. Stop VCS and vcsmm: #hastop -local -force #/etc/init.d/vcsmm stop 2. Remove the patch by using the following command: # rpm -e VRTSdbac 3. Verify that the patch has been removed from the system: # rpm -qa | grep VRTSdbac Ensure that the package is not be displayed. This confirms that the package is removed. 4. Install the relevant package from the SFRAC base media. 5. start the vcsmm and VCS: #/etc/init.d/vcsmm start #hastart SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS -------------------- NONE OTHERS ------ NONE
