However, many of these patches have already been released in 5.0 Maintenance Pack 1 or later as standalone Rolling Patches. In case a system is being upgraded from SF 5.0 or SF 5.0 MP1 to SF 5.0 MP2, some of these patches might already be installed on the system. In such cases, the installmp command automatically detects these patches and skips the installation. For all the patches that are installed on the system from a SF 5.0 MP2 DVD media or SF 5.0 MP2 tar ball (upgrade install or new installation) the title of the patch would contain the string MP2. This can be verified by running the following command on the system after upgrading or installing SF 5.0 MP2. # swlist -l product -a title However, for the patches that are already installed on the system, in case of a upgrade from SF 5.0, SF 5.0 MP1 to SF 5.0 MP2, the MP2 string will not appear in the title of the patches. The following table lists the patches contained in the SF 5.0 MP2 DVD media or Tar Ball. Note that the actual subset of patches that get installed on a system is determined by the Symantec Product installed on that system. Unofficial patches ========================================================================== Before you install SFHA 5.0 MP2, remove all unofficial patches. To determine if there are any unofficial patches on your system, enter the following command: # swlist | grep UNOF | awk '{print $1}' Installation timeout when installing from the DVD ========================================================================== In case of a full package installation being performed (new installation or upgrade from 4.1 or older releases) from a DVD media, the installation of VRTSvxvm might result in an internal timeout happening in the CPI installer. This can cause text similar to the example below to appear in the installation summary log. Logs for installer are temporarily being created in /var/tmp/installer-NaTy5X. Installing SFCFS: 100% The following depots failed to install on swia15: VRTSvxvm Installation log files, summary file, and response file are saved at: /opt/VRTS/install/logs/installer-NaTy5X This message is harmless and can be ignored because the package is successfully installed. However, to avoid this issue, the installer can be invoked with -timeout 1800 option. It is recommended that this package and associated patches are removed from the system before upgrading to SF 5.0 Maintenance Pack 2. The VRTSvsvc package and the associated patches will be automatically removed, if installmp is used to upgrade to SF 5.0 MP2. See Upgrade from SF 5.0, SF 5.0 MP1 to SF 5.0 MP2 for details on upgrading to SF 5.0 MP2. See Upgrading SFHA 5.0 or SFHA 5.0 MP1 to SFHA 5.0 MP2 using installmp on page 16. Veritas Cluster Management Console ========================================================================== The SF 5.0 MP2 install media comes with an accompanying VCSMC 5.5 media. This is the latest release of the Cluster Management Console. Customers who are using SF 5.0, SF 5.0MP1 release with VCS MC 5.0 or VCS MC 5.1 release can continue to do so. Upgrading to SF 5.0 MP2 release will not hamper that functionality in any way. It is recommend that you consider the following: * If SF 5.0 MP2 media is used for the fresh install and if the VCS MC 5.5 is used to manage the cluster, use the Direct Connect Method from the VCS MC server. * If SF 5.0 MP2 media is used for the fresh install and if the VCS MC 5.0 or VCS MC 5.1 is used to manage the cluster, use the -configure option with installcmc from the cluster_management_console directory of SF 5.0MP2 media ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Latest Veritas product information ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ TechNotes ========================================================================= Before you install any product, read the following Veritas Technical Support TechNotes for the latest information on updates, patches, and software issues regarding this release: * Late Breaking News (LBN) for SFHA 5.0 and 5.0 SFHA MP1 Release for HP-UX 11i version 2: http://entsupport.symantec.com/docs/281875 * Late Breaking News (LBN) for SFHA 5.0 MP2 Release for HP-UX 11i version 2: http://entsupport.symantec.com/docs/319349 * To find information on supported hardware, see the hardware compatibility list (HCL) in the following TechNote: http://entsupport.symantec.com/docs/283282 About Release Notes ========================================================================= SFHA 5.0 MP2 documents ----------------------- Before you install SFHA MP2, read the following release notes.
