Date: 2009-08-24 OS: Windows OS Version: 2003, 2008 Packages: Private_5_1_00031_1803872_x86.exe, Private_5_1_00031_1803872_x64.exe, Private_5_1_00031_1803872_ia64.exe Etrack Incidents: 1803872 Errors/Problems Fixed: If there is a resource fault while taking a service group offline on a node, VCS fails to update the service group state details in the internal configuration. As a result, if that node is faulted, VCS triggers a local failover and brings the service group online on an alternate node. This failover is unintentional and should not have occurred as the service group was taken offline intentionally, either for modifying the resources or for some other maintenance purpose. This problem exaggerates in a global cluster (GCO) environment, when the global group is being taken offline on the primary site to bring it online on the secondary site. The group remains in offline state at the primary site and online at secondary site until the node at the primary site is in RUNNING state. As soon as the primary site node is faulted the service group comes online at the primary site. This results in a concurrency violation and possible data corruption. At the command prompt run any of the following commands to extract the hotfix files to the default location: C: emp> /x or C: emp> /extract For example, to extract this hotfix on a 64-bit cluster node, the command is: C: emp>Private_5_1_00031_1803872_x64.exe /x 2. From the command prompt, navigate to the default location where the hotfix files are extracted. On 32-bit systems, the files are extracted to: "%commonprogramfiles%Veritas SharedWxRTPrivates" On 64-bit systems, the files are extracted to: "%commonprogramfiles(x86)%Veritas SharedWxRTPrivates" 3. At the command prompt, run the following command to install the hotfix: VxHF.exe /install: /silent Here, is the name of the private file without the platform and the .exe extension. For example, to install this hotfix on a 64-bit cluster node, the command is: VxHF.exe /install:Private_5_1_00031_1803872 /silent 4. Follow the instructions displayed in the command prompt to complete the hotfix installation. 5. Repeat these steps for all the cluster nodes.
