GETTING STARTED
---------------
This patch applies to:
	VRTSvcsor 5.0MP3RP2 running on Solaris Sparc 5.8, 5.9, or 5.10

Patch ID for the appropriate SunOS Versions:
        For SunOS Sparc Release 5.8, 5.9, and 5.10: 143714-01.

Ensure that you are running the supported configurations before
installing this patch.

Symantec incident: 1948087

Symptom:
The Oracle agent is unable to detect the state of the resource
as ONLINE.

Defect Description:
The Oracle agent is unable to detect the state of the resource
as ONLINE when the Oracle binaries are installed on 
Network File System (NFS) storage and the owner of the 
Oracle resource is different from the owner of the Oracle 
binaries, though they belong to the same user group.

Resolution:
The Oracle agent is now able to detect the state of the resource
as ONLINE even when the Oracle binaries are installed on 
NFS storage when the owner of the Oracle resource is different 
from the owner of the Oracle binaries, though they belong 
to the same user group.

This patch updates the following VCS package(s):
	VRTSvcsor from 5.0MP3RP2 or higher to 5.0MP3RP2HF1


INSTALLING THE PATCH
--------------------
Installing the patch includes:
1. Stopping the VCS agent on a node.
2. Installing the patch.
3. Restarting the VCS agent on the node.

Stopping the VCS agent on a node
--------------------------------
* Stop the Oracle agent using:
	# haagent -stop Oracle -sys [system_name] -force

Installing the patch
--------------------
To install the patch:

1. Un-compress the downloaded patch from Symantec.

2. Change the directory to the unzipped patch location.

3. Install the VRTSvcsor 5.0 MP3RP2 HF1 patch using:
        # patchadd [patch-id]
   where [patch-id] is the following:
        For SunOS Release 5.8, 5.9 and 5.10, [patch-id] is 143714-01.

4. Verify that the new patch has been installed using:
        # showrev -p | grep [patch-id]
   If the patch installs correctly, the following output displays:
   For Solaris Sparc 5.8, 5.9, and 5.10:
        Patch: 143714-01 Obsoletes:  Requires: 141284-02 Incompatibles:
        Packages: VRTSvcsor

5. Run the preceding steps on all nodes of the VCS cluster.

Restarting the VCS agent on the node
------------------------------------
* Restart the Oracle agent using:
	# haagent -start Oracle -sys [system_name]


UNINSTALLING THE PATCH
----------------------
To uninstall the patch:

1. Stop the VCS agent on a node using the steps provided in the section 
   "Stopping the VCS agent on a node."

2. Remove the patch by using:
	# patchrm 143714-01

3. Verify that the patch has been removed from the system by using:
	# showrev -p | grep 143714-01
   There is no display on the output for the patch.
4. Restart the node using the steps given in the section "Restarting he 
   VCS agent on the node."

5. Run the preceding steps on all nodes of the VCS cluster.
