Supported operating systems include: - Solaris 8, 9, and 10 - Windows Server 2000, 2003, and 2008 B - Deploying the hotfix from a Windows Management Server --------------------------------------------------------- The examples in the following procedure assume that you installed CommandCentral in the default installation directory. For 32-bit Windows: "C:\Program Files\VERITAS\" For 64-bit Windows: "C:\Program Files (x86)\VERITAS\" In the following, we'll refer to [DEFAULT DIR] for the default installation directory, "C:\Program Files\VERITAS". 1. Download the hotfix file, ccs-win-F511001923197w.zip, to a temporary location. For example, to C:\Temp 2. Extract the contents of the file. After you extract the contents, the following files/directory are available: - patches\ - patches\VRTSccs-F511001923197.tar.gz - README (this file) 3. To apply the update, do the following: - Open an operating system console. - Go to CommandCentral HAL bin directory (assumes you've installed CommandCentral Storage in the default location). C: cd [DEFAULT DIR]\CommandCentral Storage\HAL\bin - Type the following command to deploy the update on the Management Server: perl LocalUpgrade.pl C:\Temp\patches\VRTSccs-F511001923197.tar.gz 4. To verify the installation, you can check the installation logs as follows: - Go to CommandCentral HAL Data directory. cd [DEFAULT DIR]\CommandCentral Storage Data\Data\HAL\maint\VRTSccs-F511001923197\[TIMESTAMP]\output - Check if there are any errors in the stderr.txt file. - Check the detailed logs of the hotfix application in the stdout.txt file. 5. Verify the updated version as follows: - Open the following file and examine its contents: "C:\Program Files\VERITAS\CommandCentral Storage\Version\cc_version.txt" - Check the FIXID. Download the file ccs-sol_sparc-F511001923197u.tar.gz to a temporary location. For example, to /tmp and unpack it. 2. Unpack the file. After you extract the contents, the following files/directory are available: - patches/ - patches/VRTSccs-F511001923197.tar.gz - README (this file) 3. To apply the update, do the following: - Open an operating system console. - Change to the HAL bin directory: cd /opt/VRTSccs/VRTShal/bin - Type the following command to deploy the update: ./perl LocalUpgrade.pl /tmp/patches/VRTSccs-F511001923197.tar.gz 4. To verify the installation, you can check the installation logs as follows: - To see the detailed logs, go to the CommandCentral Storage Data directory. The default location for the logs is: /var/VRTSccs/data/VRTShal/maint/VRTSccs-F511001923197/[TIME STAMP]/output cd /var/VRTSccs/data/VRTShal/maint/VRTSccs-F511001923197/[TIME STAMP]/output - Check if there are any errors in the stderr.txt file. - Check the detailed logs of the hotfix application in the stdout.txt file. 5. Verify the updated version as follows: - Open the following file: /opt/VRTS/version/cc_version.txt and examine its contents. - Check the FIXID. It should appear as follows: FIXID=F511001923197 DATE=Fri Feb 12 16:28:18 2010 DESCRIPTION=Hotfix for CommandCentral Storage v5.1.1 Monitoring DB SP D - Reconfiguring monitoring for affected arrays and switches -------------------------------------------------------------- After you apply the hotfix, the Administrator needs to reconfigure monitoring for any affected arrays and switches. For example, if the issue affects an EMC CLARiiON array, you need to reconfigure monitoring for that array. To reconfigure monitoring for arrays and switches 1. Click Settings > Summary > View Configured Devices. 2. In the Configured Devices table, check the array or switch that you want to configure. 3. From the drop-down list, click Edit Device Configuration. Then, click Go. 4. In the Configure Device wizard, do the following: - Check the Enable Monitoring checkbox. If the field is already checked, uncheck it, and then check it again. - In the Password field, re-enter the password. - Click Next. - Click Finish.
