Patch Installation
==================

Prerequisites:
==============
o  If the currently installed VRTSvxvm is below 5.1.1.0 level, you
must upgrade VRTSvxvm to 5.1.1.0 level before installing this patch.

o  If the currently installed VRTSvcsag is below 5.1.1.100 level, you
must upgrade VRTSvcsag to 5.1.1.100 level before installing this patch.


Installation Procedure:
=======================
1. Since the patch process will configure the new kernel extensions,
ensure that no VxVM volumes are in use or open or mounted before
starting the installation procedure.

2. Use the installp command or SMIT to install the patch image.

   Using installp:

   a. Before applying this patch, kill the vxsvc process:

        /opt/VRTSob/bin/vxsvcctrl stop

   b. To apply this patch, use the following command:

        installp -ag -d ./VRTSvxvm.bff VRTSvxvm

   c. To apply and commit this patch, use the following command:

        installp -acg -d ./VRTSvxvm.bff VRTSvxvm

   NOTE: Refer to the installp(1M) manual page for more information 
   about the APPLY & COMMIT states of the package or patch.

   Using SMIT:

   a. Select the following option: 
        Software Installation and Maintenance ->
        Install and Update Software ->
        Update Installed Software to Latest Level

3. Reboot the system after the installation is complete.


Deinstallation Procedure:
=========================

If the patch installation is in "APPLY" state, you can reject or deinstall the patch image. The patch contents cannot be rejected or deinstalled if the patch is in the "COMMITed" state.

1. To reject or deinstall the VRTSvxvm 5.1.010.000(RP1 DMP_Native_Support_GA) patch, use the following command: 

     installp -r VRTSvxvm 5.1.010.000

2. Start vxconfigd manually or reboot the system.
