Subsequently basic commands on the system hang. DESCRIPTION: This issue is observed only on SLES10 SP4. The AMF implementation running on SLES10 SP3 needed some changes to work on SLES10 SP4. RESOLUTION: Symantec has enhanced the AMF driver so that it now supports SLES10 SP4. INSTALLING THE PATCH -------------------- To install the patch perform the following steps on all nodes in the VCS cluster: 1. Stop VCS on the cluster node. 2. Install the VRTSamf patch on the cluster node. 4. Restart VCS on the node. Stopping VCS on the cluster node -------------------------------- To stop VCS on the cluster node: 1. Ensure that the "/opt/VRTS/bin" directory is included in your PATH environment variable so that you can execute all the VCS commands. For more information, refer to the Veritas Cluster Server Installation Guide. 2. Verify that the version of VRTSvcs is 5.1SP1RP1. 3. Persistently freeze all the service groups: # haconf -makerw # hagrp -freeze [group] -persistent # haconf -dump -makero 4. Stop VCS on the local node. # hastop -local Installing the patch -------------------- To install the patch: 1. Log in as superuser on the system where you are installing the patch. 2. Uncompress the patch that you downloaded from Symantec. 3. Change the directory to the uncompressed patch location. 4. If AMF driver is loaded, stop AMF. # /etc/init.d/amf stop 5. Uninstall existing VRTSamf rpm # rpm -e VRTSamf 6. Install the patch: # rpm -ivh VRTSamf-5.1.101.100-SP1RP1P1_SLES10.x86_64.rpm 7. After the installtion completes, verify that the patch is installed. # rpm -q VRTSamf Restarting VCS on the cluster node ---------------------------------- To restart VCS on the cluster node: 1. Start VCS on the local node. # hastart 2. Unfreeze all the service groups: # haconf -makerw # hagrp -unfreeze [group] -persistent # haconf -dump -makero REMOVING THE PATCH ------------------ To uninstall the patch perform the following steps on all nodes in the VCS cluster: 1. On SLES10 SP3, install the VRTSamf rpm from 5.1SP1 RP1. Restarting VCS on the cluster node ---------------------------------- To restart VCS on the cluster node: 1. Start VCS on the local node. # hastart 2. Unfreeze all the service groups: # haconf -makerw # hagrp -unfreeze [group] -persistent # haconf -dump -makero SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS -------------------- NONE
