DESCRIPTION: There was a race condition between amfstat, group unregistration and event notification contexts which gave rise to a corner case that caused the panic. RESOLUTION: Symantec has modified the AMF driver to address this race condition. * 2951477 (Tracking ID: 2951467) SYMPTOM: AMF driver panics the machine when a VXFS filesystem is unmounted. DESCRIPTION: Due to a bug in AMF driver, sometimes a function calls itself infinitely causing stack corruption and panic. RESOLUTION: Symantec has modified the AMF driver to fix this bug. INSTALLING THE PATCH -------------------- 1) Unconfigure AMF #/opt/VRTSamf/bin/amfconfig -Uof This will disable IMF functionality for all agents. 2) Stop AMF #/etc/init.d/amf stop 3) Uninstall the older version of AMF #rpm -e VRTSamf 4) Install this AMF Patch #rpm -ivh VRTSamf-6.0.001.100-RP1P1_SLES11.x86_64.rpm REMOVING THE PATCH ------------------ 1) Unconfigure AMF #/opt/VRTSamf/bin/amfconfig -Uof This will disable IMF functionality for all agents. 2) Stop AMF #/etc/init.d/amf stop 3) Uninstall the older version of AMF #rpm -e VRTSamf SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS -------------------- Step #1 or #2 of the installation process, can panic the machine if incident 2951467 has already been hit. So, to ensure that AMF does not get loaded after bootup (after panic), set AMF_START=0, in the file /etc/sysconfig/amf before Step #1 of the installation process. If panic is hit, then after bootup follow instructions from step #3 to install the patch. OTHERS ------ NONE
