Storage Solutions Patches Solaris
This document contains information about installing patches for the products in the VERITAS Storage Solutions 3.5 Maintenance Pack 4 release:

Patches for Storage Solutions products are available by downloading a compressed tar file from the VERITAS website. You must already have the 3.5 release of a VERITAS Storage Solutions product installed on your system before upgrading to Maintenance Pack 4. See “Installing Storage Solutions Patches” on page 3 to find patch installation instructions for the listed VERITAS products.
Compressed Files
VERITAS product patches are compressed using GNU compression utilities before placing them on the distribution media. GNU utilities are open source tools licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). VERITAS provides the gunzip utility with the Maintenance Pack 4 software so that you can uncompress the patches and patch README files before installation.
To install any VERITAS product patches, use the gunzip utility to uncompress the packages, then extract them from the tar archive file. See the product README files for specific instructions.

Installing Storage Solutions Patches
After you download and extract the Storage Solutions product you want to upgrade, change to the VERITAS product directory:
>?To upgrade VERITAS Foundation Suite/Foundation Suite HA (includes VERITAS File System, VERITAS Volume Manager, VERITAS Volume Replicator, VERITAS Enterprise Administrator, and SANPoint Control? QuickStart):
# cd /pathname/foundation_suite
Follow the instructions in the file README_FOUNDATION.pdf.
> To upgrade VERITAS Cluster Server:
# cd /pathname/cluster_server
Follow the instructions in the file README_FIRST_VCS.txt.
> To upgrade VERITAS Database Edition for Oracle:
# cd /pathname/database_edition_for_oracle
Follow the instructions in the file README_DBED.pdf.

>?There are three VERITAS Cluster Server (VCS) Enterprise Agents to upgrade:
VERITAS Cluster Server Enterprise Agent for DB2 VERITAS Cluster Server Enterprise Agent for NetBackup? VERITAS Cluster Server Enterprise Agent for Oracle
The DB2 and NBU Enterprise Agents were not updated for MP4. If you have not already upgraded the DB2 and NBU Enterprise Agents to MP2, you can upgrade them now.
To upgrade the VCS Enterprise Agent for DB2:
# cd /pathname/cluster_server_agents/db2_agent
Follow the instructions in the file README_DB2.txt.
To upgrade the VCS Enterprise Agent for NetBackup:
# cd /pathname/cluster_server_agents/nbu_agent
Follow the instructions in the file README_NBU.txt.
The VCS Enterprise Agent for Oracle was not updated for MP4. If you have not already upgraded the VCS Enterprise Agent for Oracle to MP3, you can upgrade it now. To upgrade this agent:
# cd /pathname/cluster_server_agents/oracle_agent
Follow the instructions in the file README_ORACLE.txt.

# cd /pathname/sanpoint_foundation_suite
Follow the instructions in the file README_SPFS.pdf.
>?To upgrade VERITAS Database Edition/Advanced Cluster for Oracle:

Follow the instructions in the file README_DBAC.pdf.
