Both 4.0RP1 and 4.0RP1b contain the exact some binaries for the Windows File Server agents and the SharePoint agents, viz. 4.0.0.4007. So, if you have already applied 4.0RP1 to your nodes, you only need to update the Management Server, and Indexer nodes to 4.0RP1b. Rest of the nodes (viz. the Windows File Servers, Collectors, and SharePoint can continue to be at 4.0RP1). Packages included in 4.0RP1 were: * Symantec_DataInsight_windows_40RP1_4_0_0_4007_x64.exe for 64 bit Windows OS * Symantec_DataInsight_windows_40RP1_4_0_0_4007_x86.exe for 32 bit Windows OS * Symantec_DataInsight_linux_40RP1_4_0_0_4007_x64.sh for 64 bit Linux OS Packages included in 4.0RP1b are: * Symantec_DataInsight_windows_40RP1b_4_0_0_4015_x64.exe for 64 bit Windows OS * Symantec_DataInsight_windows_40RP1b_4_0_0_4015_x86.exe for 32 bit Windows OS * Symantec_DataInsight_linux_40RP1b_4_0_0_4015_x64.sh for 64 bit Linux OS NOTE2: If your setup has 4.0 with no other rolling patches applied: Ensure that you complete the following tasks before applying this rolling patch: * Configure the primary attribute used to classify users for the purpose of generating advanced analytics data. * Configure the time period for computing advanced analytics. * Refresh the Data Insight Dashboard data. For information about configuring settings for advanced analytics, see the Symantec Data Insight Administrator's Guide. If you fail to carry out the above steps before applying the rolling patch, you will not see any data for new features of 4.0, viz. ContextMap and Social Network Map. In that case, please carry out the above steps after applying this rolling patch. You may need to refer 4.0RP1b release notes for additional details of ETRACKs listed above. ********************************************************************************** Install/Uninstall Instructions: ********************************************************************************** Apply this rolling patch on all Data Insight servers installed with version 4.0 and no other rolling patches applied. If you already have 4.0RP1 installed, apply this rolling patch to just the Management Server and Indexer nodes (refer to NOTE1 above). NOTE: Before you begin the installation, take a backup of the Data Insight files in the Installation directory. The backup is useful in case you want to manually roll back the patch. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- High Level Steps: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Apply the rolling patch on Management Server first, followed by all the worker nodes. 2. Next, apply the patch to Windows File Server agents (if applicable). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Patching the Data Insight Management Server and the worker nodes: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Logon to each of the servers with administrative privileges. 2. Unzip the patch files to a temporary folder. In this folder, locate the rolling patch installer for the appropriate OS architecture. The installer is called: Symantec_DataInsight_windows_40RP1b_4_0_0_4015_x64.exe for 64 bit Windows OS, Symantec_DataInsight_windows_40RP1b_4_0_0_4015_x86.exe for 32 bit Windows OS, Symantec_DataInsight_linux_40RP1b_4_0_0_4015_x64.sh for 64 bit Linux OS. 3. Launch the installer executable to install the rolling patch. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Patching the Data Insight Windows File Server agents: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Unzip the patch files to a temporary folder. In this folder, locate the rolling patch installer bundles for Windows File Server agents. The agent bundle is called: Symantec_DataInsight_windows_winnas_40RP1_4_0_0_4007_x64.zip for 64 bit OS, Symantec_DataInsight_windows_winnas_40RP1_4_0_0_4007_x86.zip for 32 bit OS. 2. Logon to the Management Console with the server administrator privilege and upload the agent bundles to the appropriate Collector worker nodes using the "Agent Uploader" page under the Settings tab. 3. Navigate to the Filer details page for each configured Windows File Servers under the Settings tab and click on the "Upgrade Agent" button available on the top of the page. This option is only visible if you have enabled the option to let Data Insight install/upgrade agent for this filer. 4. Alternately, to manually patch a Windows File Server agent, log onto the Windows File Server machine with administrative privileges, unzip the agent installer bundle in a temporary location, and launch the patch installer. The patch installer is called: Symantec_DataInsight_windows_winnas_40RP1_4_0_0_4007_x64.exe for 64 bit OS, Symantec_DataInsight_windows_winnas_40RP1_4_0_0_4007_x86.exe for 32 bit OS. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Patching the Data Insight Microsoft SharePoint agents: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Logon to the SharePoint farm machine where the SharePoint agent has been previously installed. 2. Uninstall the old agent using the "Add/Remove Programs" applet in the Control Panel. 3. Unzip the patch files to a temporary folder. In this folder, locate the correct SharePoint agent installer. Use Symantec_DataInsight_sharepoint2013_4_0_0_4007.exe for SharePoint version 2013, Symantec_DataInsight_sharepoint2010_4_0_0_4007.exe for SharePoint version 2010, or Symantec_DataInsight_sharepoint_4_0_0_4007.exe for SharePoint 2007. 4. Launch the installer to install the new agent. ********************************************************************************** Additional Notes: ********************************************************************************** 1. Currently, automated roll back of patch is not supported. To roll back the patch manually, ensure the following: a. Take a backup of the original files before you install the rolling patch. b. Stop all the Data Insight services, overwrite the patched files with the original files from backup, and restart the services. 2. To confirm if a system has been patched, check the version of Data Insight using "Add/Remove Programs" applet in the Control Panel. 3. The About box will continue to show version as 4.0.0.4007(RP1) even if you have installed 4.0RP1b on your nodes. [applies to: management server, indexer, collector]
