NOTE: Please keep a backup of the files you are about to patch. This will be required in case you want to rollback the patch. Steps for patching Collector nodes: Log into Data Insight Collector nodes and perform the following steps: 1. Stop Data Insight services: net stop DataInsightWorkflow net stop DataInsightWatchdog net stop DataInsightWeb net stop DataInsightHttpd net stop DataInsightComm net stop DataInsightConfig 2. Take a backup of entire bin\ and pdb\ folders under the install location. 3. Unzip the patch files to a temporary folder. In this folder, locate the "patches" folder. This folder contains binaries for 64bit and 32bit Windows operating System as well as the SharePoint agent. For collector patch, files provided in the patch are in the same directory hierarchy as those present on your system at: "INSTALL_ROOT\DataInsight". Example: If you unzip hotfix to C:\temp, it will create the following folders under under C:\temp: C:\TEMP +---README +---patches +---linux +---windows +---32bit +-------bin +-------pdb +---64bit +-------bin +-------pdb +---SharePoint 4. Copy the patch files to the install directory. For example, if you are patching a 64 bit Windows server installed at "C:\Program Files\Symantec\DataInsight", copy entire contents under "C:\temp\patches\windows\64bit" to "C:\Program Files\Symantec\DataInsight", replacing the original files with those from the patch. 5. Start Data Insight services: net start DataInsightWorkflow net start DataInsightWatchdog net start DataInsightWeb net start DataInsightHttpd net start DataInsightComm net start DataInsightConfig Steps for patching SharePoint Server Agents: 1. Log onto the SharePoint farm machine where the SharePoint agent has been previously installed. 2. Uninstall the old agent using the "Add/Remove Programs" applet in Control Panel. 3. Unzip the patch files to a temporary folder. In this folder, locate the SharePoint agent installer. For example, if you unzip hotfix to "C:\temp" folder, SharePoint Installers are present under "C:\temp\patches\SharePoint". The installer is called: Symantec_DataInsight_sharepoint_4_0_0_4643.exe for SharePoint 2007, Symantec_DataInsight_sharepoint2010_4_0_0_4649.exe for SharePoint 2010, and Symantec_DataInsight_sharepoint2013_4_0_0_4639.exe for SharePoint 2013. 4. Launch the appropriate installer to install the new agent. Additional Notes: 1. Apply this hotfix to Data Insight 4.0 RP2 only. 2. Install the SharePoint Server Agent using appropriate installers.
