DETAILS OF INCIDENTS FIXED BY THE PATCH --------------------------------------- This patch fixes the following Symantec incidents: Patch ID: VRTSamf-6.1.1.100 * 3606496 (Tracking ID: 3606494) SYMPTOM: System panics during a branded zone boot operation. DESCRIPTION: During a branded zone boot operation, under certain circumstances the system panics because of memory corruption in Asynchronous Monitoring Framework (AMF). RESOLUTION: AMF driver is modified to fix this issue. INSTALLING THE PATCH -------------------- Run the Installer script to automatically install the patch: ----------------------------------------------------------- To install the patch perform the following steps on at least one node in the cluster: 1. Copy the hot-fix amf-sol11_sparc-6.1.1.100-patches.tar.gz to /tmp 2. Untar amf-sol11_sparc-6.1.1.100-patches.tar.gz to /tmp/hf # mkdir /tmp/hf # cd /tmp/hf # gunzip /tmp/amf-sol11_sparc-6.1.1.100-patches.tar.gz # tar xf /tmp/amf-sol11_sparc-6.1.1.100-patches.tar 3. Install the hotfix # pwd /tmp/hf # ./installVRTSamf611HF100 [ ...] If you want to manually apply the patch, please follow the following steps a. Set the the publisher # pkg set-publisher -p Symantec b. Install the package # pkg install --accept [ ...] c. Verify the package is installed. The output of the following command should display the version for the package as 6.1.1.x : # pkg info [ ...] d. Unset the publisher # pkg unset-publisher Symantec Install the patch manually: -------------------------- 1) Unconfigure AMF #/opt/VRTSamf/bin/amfconfig -Uof This will disable IMF functionality for all agents. 2) Disable AMF #svcadm disable amf 3) Apply the patch by using the following commands: (a) Set the publisher #pkg set-publisher -p VRTSamf.p5p Symantec (b) Install the patch #pkg install --accept VRTSamf 4) Verify whether the patch has been applied successfully. Output for the following command should show version of VRTSamf as 6.1.1.100 #pkg info VRTSamf 5) Unset the publisher #pkg unset-publisher Symantec 6) Enable AMF #svcadm enable amf REMOVING THE PATCH ------------------ 1) Unconfigure AMF #/opt/VRTSamf/bin/amfconfig -Uof This will disable IMF functionality for all agents. 2) Disable AMF #svcadm disable amf 3) Uninstall AMF Note: Uninstalling the patch will remove the entire package.
