ASL Installation Instructions: 1. At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL and APM tar package # mkdir /tmp/asl_apm # cd /tmp/asl_apm 2. After downloading VRTSHP-EVA-5.0-asl-AIX-v2.0.tar_326045.gz, verify the checksum of the file # cksum VRTSHP-EVA-5.0-asl-AIX-v2.0.tar_326045.gz 3852988998 10355 VRTSHP-EVA-5.0-asl-AIX-v2.0.tar_326045.gz 3. Uncompress the file and extract the package # gunzip VRTSHP-EVA-5.0-asl-AIX-v2.0.tar_326045.gz # tar xvf VRTSHP-EVA-5.0-asl-AIX-v2.0.tar_326045 4. Before adding ASL package, ensure VERITAS Volume Manager is installed and enabled # vxdctl mode mode: enabled 5. Install the ASL by executing the installp command # installp -acgX -d VRTSHP-EVA.bff VRTSHP-EVA 6. After the ASL is installed, you must execute the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array as an HP EVA array # vxdctl enable Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL does not take effect, and vxdctl enable does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can execute the vxconfigd -k command in addition to vxdctl enable. 7. After executing vxdctl enable, verify the output of the vxddladm listsupport and listversion commands For VxVM version 5.0 and 5.0MP1, you should see following output: # vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxhpeva.so ATTR_NAME ATTR_VALUE ================================================================================================= LIBNAME libvxhpeva.so VID HP PID HSV300, HSV400, HSV450 ARRAY_TYPE A/A-A-HP ARRAY_NAME EVA4400, EVA6400, EVA8400 Note: After upgrading to 5.0MP3, you must execute vxddladm addsupport all command for proper working of given ASL with 5.0MP3. For VxVM version 5.0MP3 onwards you should see following output: # vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxhpeva.so ATTR_NAME ATTR_VALUE ================================================================================================= LIBNAME libvxhpeva.so VID HP PID HSV300, HSV400, HSV450 ARRAY_TYPE ALUA ARRAY_NAME EVA4400, EVA6400, EVA8400 # vxddladm listversion libname=libvxhpeva.so libvxhpeva.so has version string: vm-5.0-rev-2.
