This TechFile provides information on the Array Support Library (ASL) and the Array Policy Module (APM) for Huawei OceanStor / HuaSy Oceanspace Series Arrays (A/P-F) on Veritas Volume Manager (tm) 5.0 MP3 RP1 and later for AIX

NOTE: 
1. VxVM 5.0MP3 RP1 is the minimum Veritas Volume Manager version that is required for the ASL and APM to function correctly.
2. All the arrays are supported in Fibre Channel (FC) mode only

Installation Instructions:
1. Create a directory to store Huawei OceanStor / HuaSy Oceanspace ASL and APM package
# mkdir /tmp/HUAWEI_ASLAPM
# cd /tmp/HUAWEI_ASLAPM

2. At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL and APM package

3. After downloading VRTSHUAWEIasl_apm_AIX_vm5.0MP3RP1_v2.0.tar_336602.gz in /tmp/HUAWEI_ASLAPM/ directory, verify the cksum
# cksum VRTSHUAWEIasl_apm_AIX_vm5.0MP3RP1_v2.0.tar_336602.gz

4. Uncompress the file and extract the packages
# gunzip VRTSHUAWEIasl_apm_AIX_vm5.0MP3RP1_v2.0.tar_336602.gz
# tar xvf VRTSHUAWEIasl_apm_AIX_vm5.0MP3RP1_v2.0.tar_336602

5. Before adding ASL/APM package, ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled
# vxdctl mode
mode: enabled

6. Install the ASL as follows:
# installp -acgX -d VRTSHUAWEIasl.bff VRTSHUAWEIasl

7. Install the APM as follows:
# installp -acgX -d VRTSHUAWEIapm.bff VRTSHUAWEIapm

8. After the packages are installed, execute vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array and to load the new APM
# vxdctl enable
Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL and/or APM does not take effect, and vxdctl enable does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can execute the vxconfigd -k -m enable command in addition to vxdctl enable.

9. After executing vxdctl enable, verify the output of the vxddladm listsupport command

10. Verify the ASL version
