This TechFile provides information on the Array Support Library (ASL) for IBM XIV and XIV Nextra Arrays (Active/Active) on Veritas Volume Manager (tm) 5.0 and later for HP-UX 11.23(11iv2). For general information about ASLs, see TechNote: http://entsupport.symantec.com/docs/249446 ASL Package Name: VRTSxiv ASL Package Version: 1.1 Supported versions of Veritas Volume Manager: 5.0 and later Supported Arrays: IBM XIV and XIV Nextra (Active/Active) Change Log: Only the packaging has changed, to correct the description, from Version 1.0 to Version 1.1, the ASL library has not changed. Installation Instructions 1. Create a directory to store ASL package # mkdir /tmp/asl 2. At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL package 3. After downloading VRTSxiv-5.0-hpux-1123pi-v1.tar_316539.gz in /tmp/asl/ directory, verify the cksum and extract the ASL package # cd /tmp/asl # cksum VRTSxiv-5.0-hpux-1123pi-v1.tar_316539.gz 1274511481 333746 VRTSxiv-5.0-hpux-1123pi-v1.tar_316539.gz # gunzip VRTSxiv-5.0-hpux-1123pi-v1.tar_316539.gz # tar -xvf VRTSxiv-5.0-hpux-1123pi-v1.tar_316539 4. Before adding ASL package, ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled # vxdctl mode mode: enabled 5. Install the ASL # swinstall -s `pwd` VRTSxiv 6. After the package is installed, execute the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array # vxdctl enable Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL does not take effect, and vxdctl enable does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can execute the vxconfigd -k -m enable command in addition to vxdctl enable. 7. Verify the output of the "vxddladm listversion" command # vxddladm listversion libname=libvxxiv.sl libvxxiv.sl has version string: vm-5.0-rev-1. VXVM version: 5.0 8.
