This TechFile provides information about the Array Support Library (ASL) for HP MSA2000 arrays on Veritas Volume Manager 5.0 and later for Linux (RHEL and SLES).

At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL package.

After downloading VRTSMSA2Kasl-5.0-1.0_Linux.tar_305140.gz, uncompress the file:
# zcat VRTSMSA2Kasl-5.0-1.0_Linux.tar_305140.gz | tar xvf -
Two packages VRTSMSA2Kasl-5.0-1.0_SLES9.i586.rpm for SLES9 and VRTSMSA2Kasl-5.0-1.0_RHEL4.i686.rpm for RHEL4 are present in VRTSMSA2Kasl-5.0-1.0_Linux.tar_305140.gz

Before adding any ASL package, ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled:
# vxdctl mode
mode: enabled

ASL Installation:
To install the package on RHEL4 system, type:
# rpm -ihv VRTSMSA2Kasl-5.0-1.0_RHEL4.i686.rpm

Note: Similar steps can be followed to install the packages on other platforms.
     The RHEL4 package can be used on both REHL4 systems as well as on RHEL5 systems.
     And SLES9 packages can be used on both SLES9 systems and on SLES10 systems.


After the package is installed, you must run the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array as an MSA2000 array:
# vxdctl enable

After running vxdctl enable, you should see libvxhpmsa.so in the output of the vxddladm listsupport command:
# vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxmsa2k.so
