This TechFile provides information about the Array Support Library (ASL) for Sun StorEdge 3000 series arrays on Veritas Volume Manager 5.0 and later for Linux. For general information about ASLs, see TechNote 249446 (link in the Related section of this TechFile) Package Name: Array Support Library for SUN StorEdge 3000 Array Series on Linux Package Version: 5.0-rev-1 Supported Versions of Veritas Volume Manager: 5.0 and later Supported Arrays: Sun StorEdge 3000 Series (3310, 3320, 3510, 3511) (Active/Active) At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL package VRTSSUNse3k_v1_Linux_50_287948.tar.Z. Note: If you are downloading this file on a Windows based system, an automatic file extension name change occurs for the ASL package. Therefore, you must execute the download as follows: 1. When presented with the option to save the file, save it as file type "All files." 2. In the file naming box, ensure that the file name exactly matches the file name as shown in this TechFile 3. Select OK After downloading VRTSSUNse3k_v1_Linux_50_287948.tar.Z, uncompress the file: # zcat VRTSSUNse3k_v1_Linux_50_287948.tar.Z | tar xvf - Before adding any ASL package, ensure that Volume Manager is installed and enabled: # vxdctl mode mode: enabled Note: If you have installed the previous version of the ASL for the Sun StorEdge 3000 Series Arrays (for example, VRTSSUNse3k), you should uninstall the package before installing the current version. To install the package: # rpm -ivh VRTSSUNse3k-1.0-1.0_RHEL4.i686.rpm After the package is installed, run the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array: # vxdctl enable Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL does not take effect, and the enclosure and/or devices are not claimed by vxdctl enable. In such cases, you can execute the vxconfigd -k command in addition to vxdctl enable. After running vxdctl enable, verify the output of the vxddladm listsupport command: # vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxsunse3k.so ATTR_NAME ATTR_VALUE ======================================================================= LIBNAME libvxsunse3k.so VID SUN PID StorEdge 3310, StorEdge 3320, StorEdge 3510 StorEdge 3511 ARRAY_TYPE A/A ARRAY_NAME SUN3310, SUN3320, SUN3510 SUN3511
