At the bottom of this TechFile, click Download Now to download the ASL package VRTSNIPNYis_v1_SunOS_50_288835.tar.Z

Before adding any ASL package, make sure VERITAS Volume Manager (tm) is installed and enabled (the vxdctl mode command should return "enabled"):

# vxdctl mode
mode: enabled

Note: If installing on Solaris 9, then set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/lib. Refer to TechNote 251706 for complete information (link available below under Related Documents).

Note: If Veritas Volume Manager (tm) 5.0 is updated from 4.1, before installation, please use the following instructions to remove the old ASL for NEC iStorage.

1. To confirm the old ASL libvxnec.so exists
# vxddladm listsupport all | grep vxnec
libvxnec.so          NEC

2. To unload the old ASL libvxnec.so.
# vxddladm rmarray libname=libvxnec.so

3. To remove the old ASL.
# rm /etc/vx/lib/discovery.d/libvxnec.so
# rm /etc/vx/aslkey.d/libvxnec.key
# rm /usr/lib/vxvm/root/etc/vx/lib/discovery.d/libvxnec.so

4. Run vxddladm addsupport all command.
# vxddladm addsupport all

5. Run the vxdctl enable command
# vxdctl enable

6. To confirm the old ASL has been removed.
# vxddladm listsupport all | grep vxnec

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

After downloading VRTSNIPNYis_v1_SunOS_50_288835.tar.Z, uncompress and extract the package:
# cd /tmp
# zcat VRTSNIPNYis_v1_SunOS_50_288835.tar.Z | tar xvf -

To install the package:
# pkgadd -d ./

After the package is installed, you must run the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array as an NEC array:

#  vxdctl enable

After running vxdctl enable, you should see libvxnipnyis.so in the output of vxddladm listsupport:

# vxddladm listsupport all
LIBNAME              VID

libvxnipnyis.so      NEC

# vxddladm listversion libname=libvxnipnyis.so
LIB_NAME                        ASL_VERSION      Min. VXVM version

Note: If Veritas Volume Manager (tm) 5.0 is updated from 4.1, the output of vxdisk list may show udid_mismatch. Please do not execute the vxdisk updateudid command to erase udid_mismatch at this time. If you would like to erase udid_mismatch, please do a full backup of all relevant data on disk groups, and restore them after rebuild the disk group. Please refer TechNote 292641 for more detail.
