This TechFile provides information about the Array Support Library (ASL) for the PillarData Axiom series arrays (Active/Active-Asymmetric) on Veritas Volume Manager 5.0 and later for Solaris Opteron (x64) For general information about ASLs, see TechNote 249446 http://support.veritas.com/docs/249446 Package Name: VRTSPILLAR-Axiom Package Version: 5.0-1.0,REV=05.15.2009.20.02 Package Description: Array Support Library for PillarData Axiom Series Arrays Supported Versions of Veritas Volume Manager: 5.0 MP3 and later Supported Arrays: PillarData Axiom Series Arrays (Active/Active-Asymmetric) Installation Instructions: 1. Create a directory to download the ASL package # mkdir /tmp/PillarData_ASL # cd /tmp/PillarData_ASL 2. At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL package 3. After downloading VRTSPILLAR-Axiom_asl_sol_i386_5.0_v1.0.tar_319732.gz verify checksum of the file # cksum VRTSPILLAR-Axiom_asl_sol_i386_5.0_v1.0.tar_319732.gz 3240518267 7615 VRTSPILLAR-Axiom_asl_sol_i386_5.0_v1.0.tar_319732.gz 4. Uncompress the file and extract the package # gunzip VRTSPILLAR-Axiom_asl_sol_i386_5.0_v1.0.tar_319732.gz # tar xvf VRTSPILLAR-Axiom_asl_sol_i386_5.0_v1.0.tar_319732 5. Before adding the ASL package, ensure that Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled # vxdctl mode mode: enabled 6. Install the ASL as follows: # pkgadd -d . VRTSPILLAR-Axiom 7. After the package is installed, execute the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array # vxdctl enable Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL does not take effect, and vxdctl enable does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can execute the vxconfigd -k command in addition to vxdctl enable. 8. After executing vxdctl enable, verify the output of the vxddladm listsupport command # vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxpillaraxiom.so ATTR_NAME ATTR_VALUE ======================================================================= LIBNAME libvxpillaraxiom.so VID Pillar PID Axiom 300, Axiom 500, Axiom 600 ARRAY_TYPE A/A-A ARRAY_NAME PILLAR-AXIOM 9. Verfiy the ASL library version # vxddladm listversion libname=libvxpillaraxiom.so libvxpillaraxiom.so has version string: vm-5.0-rev-1.
