This TechFile provides information about the Array Support Library (ASL) and Array Policy Module (APM) for EMC Invista on Veritas Volume Manager 4.1 and 5.0 for Solaris (Sparc). For general information about ASLs, see TechNote 249446 (link in the Related Documents section of this TechFile) Package Name: Inv-ASL and Inv-APM Package Version: 1.0 Supported Arrays: EMC Invista 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 (including patches) (Active/Active) Supported versions of VERITAS Volume Manager: 4.1 and later, 5.0 and later Note: This ASL & APM is developed, supported, and maintained by EMC; If issues are encountered, please contact EMC Support for primary support and contact point. At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the APM and ASL package After downloading Invista_Sol_apm_asl_286501.tar.Z , uncompress the file: # mkdir /tmp/Invista # cd /tmp/Invista # zcat Invista_Sol_apm_asl_286501.tar.Z | tar xvf - After uncompressing, one ASL package directory and one APM package directory are available: # ls Inv-APM Inv-ASL Before adding any ASL package, ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled: # vxdctl mode mode: enabled To install the package: APM Installation Install the APM first: # pkdadd -d . Inv-APM ASL Installation Install the ASL: # pkgadd -d . Inv-ASL After the packages are installed, you must execute the vxdctl enable command to claim the devices by EMC Invista APM-ASL: # vxdctl enable Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL and/or APM does not take effect and vxdctl enable does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can execute the vxconfigd -k command in addition to vxdctl enable.
