This TechFile provides information about the Pillardata Axiom series arrays on Veritas Volume Manager 5.0 and later for Solaris Sparc. For general information about ASLs, see TechNote 249446 (link in Related Documents section of this Tech File). ASL Package Name: VRTSPILLAR-Axiom ASL Package Description: Array Support Library for PillarData Axiom Series Arrays ASL Package Version: 5.0-1.0,REV=05.18.2009.13.43 Supported versions of Veritas Volume Manager: 5.0 and later Supported Arrays: Axiom ( 300, 500 and 600 ) Series Arrays Supported Mode: Active/Active Asynchronous (A/A-A) Note: The supported mode of the array has changed from A/P to A/A-A with this ASL Installation Instructions: 1. Create a directory to store ASL package # mkdir /tmp/asl # cd /tmp/asl 2. At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL package 3. After downloading VRTSPILLAR-Axiom_Sun_Sparc_V5.0_1.0.tar_329938.gz, verify the checksum # cksum VRTSPILLAR-Axiom_Sun_Sparc_V5.0_1.0.tar_329938.gz 1793548226 7084 VRTSPILLAR-Axiom_Sun_Sparc_V5.0_1.0.tar_329938.gz 4. Uncompress the file and extract the package # gunzip VRTSPILLAR-Axiom_Sun_Sparc_V5.0_1.0.tar_329938.gz # tar -xvf VRTSPILLAR-Axiom_Sun_Sparc_V5.0_1.0.tar_329938 5. Before adding any ASL package, ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled # vxdctl mode mode: enabled Warning: If installing on Solaris 9, then set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/lib. See TechNote 251706 (link in the Related Documents section of this TechFile) 6. To install the package type # pkgadd -d . VRTSPILLAR-Axiom 7. After the package is installed, you must execute the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array # vxdctl enable Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL does not take effect and vxdctl enable does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can execute the vxconfigd -k command in addition to vxdctl enable 8.
