This TechFile provides information about the Array Support Library (ASL) for HP StorageWorks 4400/6400/8400 Enterprise Virtual Array (ALUA) on Veritas Volume Manager (tm) 5.0 MP3 and later for Solaris x64 (Opteron) For general information about ASLs, see TechNote 249446 (link in the Related Documents section of this TechFile) Package Name: VRTSHP-EVA Package Description: Array Support Library for HP EVA Series Arrays (4400/6400/8400) Package Version: 5.0-1.0,REV=03.26.2009.03.30 Supported versions of VERITAS Volume Manager: 5.0 MP3 and later Supported Arrays: HP StorageWorks 4400/6400/8400 Enterprise Virtual Array (ALUA) Installation Instructions: 1. Create a directory to store the HP EVA ASL package # mkdir /tmp/EVA_ASL # cd /tmp/EVA_ASL 2. At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the tar file 3. After downloading VRTSHP-EVA_SunOS_i386_5.0_v1.0.tar_338459.gz, verify cksum of the file # cksum VRTSHP-EVA_SunOS_i386_5.0_v1.0.tar_338459.gz 4189667526 8446 VRTSHP-EVA_SunOS_i386_5.0_v1.0.tar_338459.gz 4. Uncompress the file and extract the ASL package # gunzip VRTSHP-EVA_SunOS_i386_5.0_v1.0.tar_338459.gz # tar xvf VRTSHP-EVA_SunOS_i386_5.0_v1.0.tar_338459 5. Before installing the ASL package, ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled # vxdctl mode mode: enabled 6. Install the ASL # pkgadd -d . VRTSHP-EVA 7. After the packages are installed, execute vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array and to load the new APM # vxdctl enable Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL does not take effect, and vxdctl enable does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can execute the vxconfigd -k -m enable command in addition to vxdctl enable. 8.
