This TechFile provides information about Array Support Library (ASL) for IBM XIV Array (Active/Active) on Veritas Volume Manager (tm) 5.0 and later for Solaris SPARC For general information about ASLs, see TechNote 249446 (see Related Documents section of this TechFile for the link) ASL Package Name: VRTSibmxiv ASL Package Description: Array Support Library for IBM XIV ASL Package Version: 5.0,REV=12.07.2009.12.19 Supported versions of VERITAS Volume Manager: 5.0 and later Supported Arrays: IBM XIV (Active/Active) Installation Instructions: 1. Create a directory to download the ASL package # mkdir /tmp/asl # cd /tmp/asl 2. At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL package in /tmp/asl 3. After downloading VRTSibmxiv-5.0-SunOS-SPARC-v6.tar_338443.gz verify the cksum # cksum VRTSibmxiv-5.0-SunOS-SPARC-v6.tar_338443.gz 149672286 9239 VRTSibmxiv-5.0-SunOS-SPARC-v6.tar_338443.gz 4. Uncompress the file and extract the ASL package # gunzip VRTSibmxiv-5.0-SunOS-SPARC-v6.tar_338443.gz # tar -xf VRTSibmxiv-5.0-SunOS-SPARC-v6.tar_338443 5. Before adding the ASL package, ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled # vxdctl mode mode: enabled 6. ASL Installation # pkgadd -d . VRTSibmxiv 7. After the package is installed, you must execute the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array # vxdctl enable Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL does not take effect, and the vxdctl enable command does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can execute the vxconfigd -k command in addition to vxdctl enable. 8.
