This README provides information about the Array Support Library (ASL) for HP
StorageWorks MSA2300 Series Arrays, MSA 2012sa and HP P2000 Series Arrays on
Veritas Volume Manager (tm) 5.0 and 5.0MPx for Linux (RHEL and SLES)

NOTE:
Before installing this ASL package, please remove any external
ASL packages that are installed on this system for HP
MSA2312/2324/2012sa or HP MSA2312/2324fc series. Please refer to the
following example to remove VRTSmsa2kfc and VRTSHP-MSA2000sa packages

# rpm -qa | egrep "VRTSmsa2kfc|VRTSHP-MSA2000sa|VRTSHPMSA" | awk '{ print $2 }'

Then use "rpm -e" to remove the above packages.

Installation Instructions:
--------------------------
1. Create a directory to download the ASL package
# mkdir HPMSA_ASL
# cd HPMSA_ASL

2. After downloading, verify the checksum of the file:
# cksum VRTSHPMSA-5.0-1.5_Linux.tar.gz
2225056775 31493 VRTSHPMSA-5.0-1.5_Linux.tar.gz

3. Uncompress the file and extract the rpm packages:
# gunzip VRTSHPMSA-5.0-1.5_Linux.tar.gz
# tar -xvf VRTSHPMSA-5.0-1.5_Linux.tar

There are a total of five ASL packages present in 
VRTSHPMSA-5.0-1.5_Linux.tar.gz, as follows:

VRTSHPMSA-5.0-1.5_RHEL4.i686.rpm
VRTSHPMSA-5.0-1.5_RHEL5.i686.rpm
VRTSHPMSA-5.0-1.5_SLES9.i586.rpm
VRTSHPMSA-5.0-1.5_SLES10.i586.rpm
VRTSHPMSA-5.0-1.5_SLES11.x86_64.rpm

The same ASL package is intended to work on different 
architectures (ia32/ia64/x86_64) on RHEL4/5 & SLES9/10/11

4. Before adding any ASL package, ensure Veritas Volume Manager 
is installed and enabled

# vxdctl mode
mode: enabled

5. Select the appropriate ASL package depending on the target machine
distribution (RHEL or SLES) and OS version. Following is an example
installation instruction for RHEL5 distribution:

# rpm -ivh VRTSHPMSA-5.0-1.5_RHEL5.i686.rpm

6. After the package is installed, execute the "vxdctl enable" command 
to claim the disk array

# vxdctl enable

Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the
ASL and/or APM does not take effect, and the "vxdctl enable" command 
does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can
execute the "vxconfigd -k" command in addition to "vxdctl enable"

7. After running "vxdctl enable", verify the output of the 
"vxddladm listsupport" command. On VxVM 5.0MP3 and later releases the
ARRAY_TYPE supported is ALUA and on previous releases it is A/A-A-HP
