This README provides information on the Array Support Library (ASL) and 
Array Policy Module (APM) for SUN 7x10 series of arrays (ALUA), 
on Veritas Volume Manager 5.0MP3 and later for Solaris SPARC.

APM Package Version: 1.0,REV=09.10.2010.12.18
Supported versions of Veritas Volume Manager: 5.0MP3 and later
Supported Arrays: SUN 7x10 series of arrays (ALUA)


Installation Instructions:
--------------------------
1. Create a directory to store SUN ASL and APM package
	
	# mkdir /tmp/ASLAPM
	# cd /tmp/ASLAPM


2. Download the ASL-APM tar package to /tmp/ASLAPM 


3. After downloading VRTSSUN7x10_Solaris_SPARC_VM-5.0-1.0.tar.gz,
   verify checksum of the file:

	# cksum VRTSSUN7x10_Solaris_SPARC_VM-5.0-1.0.tar.gz
	975277929       46762   VRTSSUN7x10_Solaris_SPARC_VM-5.0-1.0.tar.gz


4. Uncompress the file and extract the rpm packages:

	# gunzip VRTSSUN7x10_Solaris_SPARC_VM-5.0-1.0.tar.gz
	# tar -xvf VRTSSUN7x10_Solaris_SPARC_VM-5.0-1.0.tar


5. Before adding any ASL/APM rpm package,
   ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled:

	# vxdctl mode
	mode: enabled


6. ASL Installation

	# pkgadd -d . VRTSSUN7x10asl


7. APM Installation

	# pkgadd -d . VRTSSUN7x10apm


8. After the packages are installed, execute "vxdctl enable" command to 
   claim the disk array as SUN 7x10 array and to load the new APM:

	# vxdctl enable

   Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of 
	the ASL and/or APM does not take effect, and vxdctl enable does not 
	claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can execute 
	the "vxconfigd -k" command in addition to "vxdctl enable".


9. After executing "vxdctl enable", verify the output of the
   "vxddladm listsupport" command as follows:

	# vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxsun7x10.so

10. Verify the output of "vxdmpadm listapm" command to make sure that the 
    APM is in Active state:
