This TechFile provides information about the Array Support Library (ASL) for the HITACHI HDS9500-ALUA,AMS_WMS Arrays (A/A-A-HDS, A/PG, A/P, A/A) on VERITAS Volume Manager (tm) 5.0 and later for AIX.

Installation Instructions:
1. Create a directory to store ASL package:
# mkdir /tmp/asl

2. At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the package.

3. Download the file VRTShdsalua_5.0_AIX_5.3_1.0_304570.tar.Z into /tmp/asl directory and verify the cksum
# cksum VRTShdsalua_5.0_AIX_5.3_1.0_304570.tar.Z
891117193 17158 VRTShdsalua_5.0_AIX_5.3_1.0_304570.tar.Z

4. Before adding any ASL package, ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled:
# vxdctl mode
mode: enabled

5. To install the package:
# cd /tmp/asl
# zcat VRTShdsalua_5.0_AIX_5.3_1.0_304570.tar.Z | tar xvf -
# installp -acX -d ./VRTShdsalua.bff VRTShdsalua

After the package is installed, you must run the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array:
# vxdctl enable

After running the vxdctl enable command, you should see libvxhdsalua.so in the output of the vxddladm listsupport command:

# vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxhdsalua.so
