This TechFile provides information on Array Support Library and Array Policy Module for IBM SANVC A/A-A ( 2145, 2062 ) series arrays for Veritas Volume Manager (tm) 5.0 MP3 RP2 and later on AIX For general information about ASLs, see TechNote 249446 (link in the Related Documents section of this TechFile) NOTE: VxVM 5.0MP3 RP2 is the minimum Veritas Volume Manager version that is required for the ASL and APM to function correctly. ASL Package Name : VRTSibmsvc ASL Package Version : 1.0 ASL Package description: Array Support Library for IBM SANVC APM Package Name: VRTSibmsvcapm APM Package Version: 1.1 APM Package description: VERITAS Array Policy Module for IBM SANVC Supported versions of VERITAS Volume Manager: 5.0 MP3 RP2 and later Supported Arrays: IBM SANVC ( 2145, 2062 ) Supported Mode: A/A-A ( Active/Active-Asynchronous ) Installation Instructions: 1. Create a directory to store packages # mkdir /tmp/IBMSANVC_aslapm # cd /tmp/IBMSANVC_aslapm 2. At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL/APM packages 3. After downloading VRTSibmsvc_asl_apm_vm5.0_v1.1.tar_327114.gz in /tmp/IBMSANVC_aslapm, verify the checksum # cksum VRTSibmsvc_asl_apm_vm5.0_v1.1.tar_327114.gz 3812930924 18871 VRTSibmsvc_asl_apm_vm5.0_v1.1.tar_327114.gz 4. Uncompress the file and extract the packages # gunzip VRTSibmsvc_asl_apm_vm5.0_v1.1.tar_327114.gz # tar -xvf VRTSibmsvc_asl_apm_vm5.0_v1.1.tar_327114 5. Before installing the ASL/APM packages, make sure VERITAS Volume Manager is installed and enabled # vxdctl mode mode: enabled 6. ASL Installation # installp -acgX -d VRTSibmsvc.bff VRTSibmsvc 7. APM Installation # installp -acgX -d VRTSibmsvcapm.bff VRTSibmsvcapm 8. After the packages are installed, run the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array # vxdctl enable Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL/APM does not take effect, and vxdctl enable does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can execute the vxconfigd -k command in addition to vxdctl enable 9. After executing vxdctl enable, verify the output of the vxddladm listsupport command # vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxibmsvc.so ATTR_NAME ATTR_VALUE ============================== LIBNAME libvxibmsvc.so VID IBM PID 2145, 2062 ARRAY_TYPE A/A-A-IBMSVC ARRAY_NAME SAN_VC 10. Verify the ASL version # vxddladm listversion libname=libvxibmsvc.so libvxibmsvc.so has version string: vm-5.0-rev-1.VXVM version: 5.0 11. Also verify the output of vxdmpadm listapm command. The APM should be in Active state # vxdmpadm listapm dmpsvc Filename: dmpsvc APM name: dmpsvc APM version: 1 Feature: VxVM VxVM version: 50 Array Types Supported: A/A-A-IBMSVC Depending Array Types: A/A-A State: Active ASL Package Information: # lslpp -l VRTSibmsvc Fileset Level State Description -------------------------------------------------- Path: /usr/lib/objrepos VRTSibmsvc 1.0.0.0 COMMITTED Array Support Library for IBM SANVC Path: /etc/objrepos VRTSibmsvc 1.0.0.0 COMMITTED Array Support Library for IBM SANVC APM package Information: # lslpp -l VRTSibmsvcapm Fileset Level State Description -------------------------------------------------- Path: /usr/lib/objrepos VRTSibmsvcapm 1.0.0.1 COMMITTED VERITAS Array Policy Module for IBM SANVC Path: /etc/objrepos VRTSibmsvcapm 1.0.0.1 COMMITTED VERITAS Array Policy Module for IBM SANVC
