This TechFile provides information about the Array Support Library (ASL) for FSC FibreCAT SX80/SX100 Series Arrays on Veritas Volume Manager 5.0 and later for Linux SLES9/SLES10 For general information about ASLs, see TechNote 249446 (link in the Related Documents section of this TechFile) Package Name: VRTSFSC-FibreCAT-ASL Package Description: Array Support Library for FSC FibreCAT Series Arrays Package Version: 1.0 Supported versions of Veritas Volume Manager: 5.0, 5.0MP1, 5.0MP2, 5.0MP3 Supported Arrays: FSC FibreCAT SX80/SX100 Series Arrays (Active/Active) Installation Instructions: 1. Create a directory in which the ASL package would be downloaded # mkdir /tmp/FSC_ASL # cd /tmp/FSC_ASL 2. At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the package. After downloading , verify checksum of the file as follows: # cksum VRTSFSC-FibreCAT-ASL-5.0-1.0_Linux.tar_319509.gz 3069009404 10485 VRTSFSC-FibreCAT-ASL-5.0-1.0_Linux.tar_319509.gz 3. Uncompress the file and extract the rpm packages # gunzip VRTSFSC-FibreCAT-ASL-5.0-1.0_Linux.tar_319509.gz # tar xvf VRTSFSC-FibreCAT-ASL-5.0-1.0_Linux.tar_319509 Two ASL packages are present in VRTSFSC-FibreCAT-ASL-5.0-1.0_Linux.tar_319509.gz as follows: - VRTSFSC-FibreCAT-ASL-5.0-1.0_SLES10.i586.rpm - VRTSFSC-FibreCAT-ASL-5.0-1.0_SLES9.i586.rpm 4. Before adding any ASL package, ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled # vxdctl mode mode: enabled 5. Install the ASL based on target machine distribution. Following is an example installation instruction for SLES9 distribution: # rpm -ivh VRTSFSC-FibreCAT-ASL-5.0-1.0_SLES9.i586.rpm Preparing... ########################################### [100%] 1:VRTSFSC-FibreCAT-ASL ########################################### [100%] Adding the entry in supported arrays Loading The Library 6. After the package is installed, execute vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array as FSC-FibreCAT # vxdctl enable Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL and/or APM does not take effect, and vxdctl enable does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can execute vxconfigd -k command in addition to vxdctl enable. 7. After executing vxdctl enable, verify output of vxddladm listsupport command # vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxfsc.so ATTR_NAME ATTR_VALUE ======================================================================= LIBNAME libvxfsc.so VID FSC PID FibreCAT_SX1, FibreCAT_SX100 ARRAY_TYPE A/A ARRAY_NAME FSC-FibreCAT 8. Verify the ASL library version # vxddladm listversion libname=libvxfsc.so libvxfsc.so has version string: vm-5.0-rev-1. VXVM version: 5.0 Package Information: # rpm -qi VRTSFSC-FibreCAT-ASL-5.0-1.0_SLES9 Name : VRTSFSC-FibreCAT-ASL Relocations: (not relocatable) Version : 5.0 Vendor: VERITAS Software Corporation Inc.
