This TechFile provides information about the Array Support Library (ASL) for Compellent Storage Center Arrays on Veritas Volume Manager 5.0 and 5.0MPx for RHEL4 and RHEL5. For general information about ASLs, see TechNote 249446 (link in the Related Documents section of this TechFile) Package Name: VRTScompellent Package Description: Compellent Array Support Library Package Version: 1.0 Supported versions of Veritas Volume Manager: 5.0, 5.0 MP1, 5.0 MP2, 5.0 MP3 Supported Arrays: Compellent Storage Center Arrays (Active/Active) Installation Instructions: 1. Before adding any ASL package, ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled: # vxdctl mode mode: enabled 2. Create a directory to download the ASL package # mkdir /tmp/asl # cd /tmp/asl 3. At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the package 4. After downloading , verify checksum of the file # cksum VRTScompellent_asl_5.0_v1.0_Linux.tar_330520.gz 1238057247 17077 VRTScompellent_asl_5.0_v1.0_Linux.tar_330520.gz 5. Uncompress the file and extract the ASL package # gunzip VRTScompellent_asl_5.0_v1.0_Linux.tar_330520.gz # tar xvf VRTScompellent_asl_5.0_v1.0_Linux.tar_330520 Note: Verify that there are four .rpm packages as part of the tar ball. There is one ASL package per distribution. Following are the ASL packages: VRTScompellent-1.0-1.0_RHEL4.i686.rpm VRTScompellent-1.0-1.0_RHEL5.i686.rpm VRTScompellent-1.0-1.0_SLES10.i586.rpm VRTScompellent-1.0-1.0_SLES9.i586.rpm 6. Select the appropriate ASL package depending on the target machine distribution (RHEL or SLES). Following are example installation instructions for RHEL4 distribution: # rpm -ivh VRTScompellent-1.0-1.0_RHEL4.i686.rpm 7. After the package is installed, execute the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array # vxdctl enable Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL and/or APM does not take effect, and vxdctl enable does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can execute vxconfigd -k command in addition to vxdctl enable. 8. After executing vxdctl enable, verify output of vxddladm listsupport command # vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxcompellent.so ATTR_NAME ATTR_VALUE ======================================================================= LIBNAME libvxcompellent.so VID COMPELNT PID Compellent Vol ARRAY_TYPE A/A ARRAY_NAME COMPELNT 9. Verify the output of vxddladm listversion command # vxddladm listversion libname=libvxcompellent.so libvxcompellent.so has version string: vm-5.0-rev-1. VXVM version: 5.0
