This README provides information on the Array Support Library (ASL) for DELL MD3K Arrays (A/P-F) on Veritas Volume Manager 5.0MP3 and and later for Linux (SLES 10) ASL Package Name: VRTSDELL_MD3K ASL Package Version: vm-5.0-rev-2 APM Package Name: VRTSLSIapm APM Package Version: 5.0-4.0 Supported versions of Veritas Volume Manager: 5.0MP3 and later Supported Arrays: MD3000, MD32xxi, MD32xx Arrays Supported Mode : A/P-F Installation Instructions: -------------------------- 1. Create a directory to store Winchester ASL package # mkdir /tmp/aslapm # cd /tmp/aslapm 2. Download the ASL package in /tmp/aslapm 3. After downloading VRTSDELL_MD3K_asl_LSI_apm_SLES10.x86_64.tar.gz, verify the checksum of the file: # cksum VRTSDELL_MD3K_asl_LSI_apm_SLES10.x86_64.tar.gz 2800107283 1712611 VRTSDELL_MD3K_asl_LSI_apm_SLES10.x86_64.tar.gz 4. Uncompress the file and extract the rpm packages: # gunzip VRTSDELL_MD3K_asl_LSI_apm_SLES10.x86_64.tar.gz # tar -xvf VRTSDELL_MD3K_asl_LSI_apm_SLES10.x86_64.tar VRTSDELL_MD3K-2.0-5.0_SLES.i586.rpm VRTSLSIapm-5.0-4.0_SLES10.x86_64.rpm 5. Before adding any ASL rpm package, ensure Volume Manager is installed and enabled: # vxdctl mode mode: enabled 6. ASL Installation: # rpm -ihv VRTSDELL_MD3K-2.0-5.0_SLES.i586.rpm 7. APM Installation: # rpm -ihv VRTSLSIapm-5.0-4.0_SLES10.x86_64.rpm 7. After the packages are installed, execute "vxdctl enable" command to claim the DELL MD3K disk array: # vxdctl enable Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of ASL does not take effect, and vxdctl enable does not claim devices. In such cases, you can execute the "vxconfigd -k" command in addition to "vxdctl enable" 8. After executing "vxdctl enable", verify the output of the "vxddladm listsupport" command as follows: # vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxdellmd3k.so ATTR_NAME ATTR_VALUE =================================================== LIBNAME libvxdellmd3k.so VID DELL PID MD3000, MD32xxi, MD32xx ARRAY_TYPE A/P-C, A/PF-LSI ARRAY_NAME MD3000, MD32xxi, MD32xx 9. Check ASL version # vxddladm listversion libname=libvxdellmd3k.so libvxdellmd3k.so has version string: vm-5.0-rev-2. VXVM version: 5.0 10. If array is configured in A/P-F mode, then verify that APM is in Active state: # vxdmpadm listapm dmpEngenio Filename: dmpEngenio.ko APM name: dmpEngenio APM version: 1 Feature: VxVM VxVM version: 50 Array Types Supported: A/PF-LSI Depending Array Types: A/P State: Active
