This README provides information about Array Support Library (ASL) for IBM XIV Array (Active/Active) on Veritas Volume Manager (tm) 5.0 and later for HP-UX 11.31 ASL Package Name: VRTSibmxiv ASL Package Version: vm-5.0-rev-5 Supported versions of Veritas Volume Manager: 5.0 and later Supported Arrays: IBM XIV (A/A) Installation Instructions: -------------------------- 1. Create a directory to store NetApp ASL package: # mkdir /tmp/XIV_ASL # cd /tmp/XIV_ASL 2. Download the ASL tar package in to /tmp/XIV_ASL 3. After downloading VRTSibmxiv-5.0-HP_UX_11.31-v5.tar.gz in /tmp/XIV_ASL/ directory, verify checksum of file # cksum VRTSibmxiv-5.0-HP_UX_11.31-v5.tar.gz 2758524820 48466 VRTSibmxiv-5.0-HP_UX_11.31-v5.tar.gz 4. Uncompress the file and extract the ASL package # gunzip VRTSibmxiv-5.0-HP_UX_11.31-v5.tar.gz # tar xvf VRTSibmxiv-5.0-HP_UX_11.31-v5.tar 5. Before adding ASL package, ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled: # vxdctl mode mode: enabled 6. Install the ASL: # swinstall -s `pwd` VRTSibmxiv 7. After package is installed, execute the "vxdctl enable" command to claim the disk array as XIV array: # vxdctl enable Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL and/or APM does not take effect, and "vxdctl enable" does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can execute the "vxconfigd -k -m enable" command in addition to "vxdctl enable". 8. After executing "vxdctl enable", verify the output of the "vxddladm listsupport" command: # vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxxiv.sl ATTR_NAME ATTR_VALUE ======================================================================= LIBNAME libvxxiv.sl VID IBM PID 2810XIV ARRAY_TYPE A/A ARRAY_NAME XIV 9. Verify the output of "vxddladm listversion" command: # vxddladm listversion libname=libvxxiv.sl LIB_NAME ASL_VERSION Min. VXVM version =================================================================== libvxxiv.sl vm-5.0-rev-5 5.0
