Message:
The IBC message timed out before the receive.
Description:

This message is displayed while receiving an In-Band Control (IBC) message on the Secondary replicated volume group (RVG) that is sent from the Primary RVG. The error message is displayed in the following cases when the IBC message delivery to the Secondary fails:
 

  • If you run the vxibc receive or vxibc regrecv command after the sent message’s delivery_timeout has expired. The value for the delivery_timeout option is specified when you send the message from the Primary using the vxibc send or vxibc regsend command. 
     
  • If you run the vxibc receive or vxibc regrecv command in blocking mode (without the -n option), and the timeout value specified for the receive_timeout option to block the waiting for the IBC message has expired. 
     
  • If you run the vxibc receive or vxibc regrecv command even if no messages were sent from the Primary.

To resolve this issue, specify a higher or infinite (0) timeout value either for the delivery_timeout option (vxibc send or vxibc regsend command) while sending the IBC message from the Primary or for the receive_timeout option (vxibc receive or vxibc regrecv command) while receiving the message on the Secondary.
