Description:

VCS displays this message if VCS was unable to register with GAB on the allotted port. This issue occurs if GAB is not configured on the system.

GAB must be configured and running on the system before VCS can start. GAB is an integral part of a VCS cluster and must be running to provide node membership and atomic broadcast.

To configure GAB:

  1. Before starting VCS, enter the following command to check if GAB is configured and running:

     /sbin/gabconfig –a
     
  2. If GAB is not configured, configure it using the following command:

    /sbin/gabconfig –c
     
  3. Wait for port "a" membership to appear. Check that port “a” membership is present by entering the following command:

    /sbin/gabconfig –a
     
  4. Start VCS by entering the following command:

    hastart
