Description:

The NFSRestart agent displays this error message when the NFSRestart resource is configured for lock recovery and in online state, while the smsyncd service is not running or gets killed. This causes the resource to go into the FAULTED state.

 

When you configure the NFSRestart resource for lock recovery, the NFSRestart agent starts the smsyncd service. smsyncd is a Veritas Cluster Server  (VCS) process that synchronizes Network File System (NFS) record locks from system directories to a shared storage.

If you see this error message, clear the NFSrestart resource and bring it online again. The online entry point will start the smsyncd service again, along with other NFS services.

 

To clear the resource, run the following command:

#hares –clear nfs_restart_res -sys system_name

 

To bring the resource online, run the following command:

#hares –online nfs_restart_res -sys system_name
