Symptoms
  • Status code V-16-15-109 "Failed to get the node list. Please choose another domain or click 'Discover Domain' to rediscover.\r\nCheck logs if it happens everytime" is reported by VCW (Veritas Cluster Wizard)
  • ERROR: V-16-15-109 "Failed to get the node list. Please choose another domain or click 'Discover Domain' to rediscover.\r\nCheck logs if it happens everytime"

Cause
Possible Causes:
  • The user is logged in directly to the server, instead of a domain.
  • There is a problem communicating with the domain.
  • The account being used by the "Veritas Cluster Server Helper" (hadhelper) service does not adequate permissions.
Note: The hadhelper account cannot be a local system account.

Answer/Resolution
  • If the user is logged in directly to the server, log into the domain and restart the wizard.
  • Verify that the domain is reachable by running Dcdiag.exe, a Microsoft utility.
  • Run hadhelper /configure on all nodes to grant permissions to the hadhelper account.
