First check the console log for I/O errors. If the console log indicates a disk failure, then proceed with the disk failure case below; otherwise, proceed with the case in which the disk did not fail.
 

In the case of a disk failure, do the following:

  1. Replace the disk.
     
  2. Mount the file system for write access with the new disk in place.

If the disk did not fail, do the following:

  1. Unmount the file system.
     
  2. Use the fsck utility to run a full structural check.
     
  3. Mount the file system for write access.
