This message is displayed when you try to mount an older disk layout using new binaries. For example, upgraded binaries may lead to the problem. You can refer to the following detailed examples:
 

  • Mounting layouts 1-5 with Veritas File System (VxFS) version 5.1 or later
     
  • Mounting layouts 1-3 with VxFS  version 4.0 or later
