If you have purchased the product and have a valid license key, you may perform the following procedure to rid the system of the message:

  1. # /opt/VRTS/bin/vxlicinst
VERITAS License Manager vxlicinst utility version 3.02.006
Copyright (C) 1996-2004 VERITAS Software Corp. All Rights reserved.

  2. Enter your license key. The expected result is:

    License key successfully installed.

The following messages indicate that an incorrect key was entered:

vxlicinst ERROR V-21-1-15 License key contains invalid characters.
vxlicinst ERROR V-21-1-16 The input License key is invalid.

  3. Validate the installation. Enter:

    # vxkeyless set NONE

If a key is required but currently not available, you can get it from the license certificate and portal (if registered). The licensing portal is at:

https://licensing.symantec.com

If you mean to remain keyless in your Veritas Storage Foundation environment, you must manage your installed hosts using the Veritas Operations Manager (VOM). VOM requires a Central Management Server (CMS) as console and Manged host (MH) software installed on each monitored node.

You may download the software from our Veritas support site for free at:
