The report <report name> failed to execute.
Description:

This error message can be displayed because of multiple reasons such as:
 

  • Failure to load a class that is referred in the type.properties file. For example, the executor class or the merge class may fail to load.
     
  •  Failure to execute dependent executables.
     
  • Invalid input paths are specified during the report configuration.
     
  • Occurrence of an error during sending or receiving report requests on remote nodes.
     
  • Policy execution failed on all nodes.
     
  • Data Insight cannot fetch information about configured filers.
     

 Data Insight cannot not locate the type.properties file because the file is missing.

Perform the following steps to determine the cause and troubleshoot the error:
 

  • Open the type.properties file and ensure that the correct class references are provided.
     
  • Ensure that the input paths that are specified during the configuration of the report are valid.
     
  • Ensure that network connection is available between all the nodes which are involved in processing the report.
     
  • Ensure that the DataInsightConfig service is running.
     
  • Verify if the type.properties file is present at the location: INSTALL_DIR\reports\Types\access_details_users\engine. If the file is missing, contact Veritas Technical Support.
     

To download the relevant logs for a report perform the following steps:

  1. From the Management Console, navigate to the Reports tab.
     
  2. Select the report name for which you want to download the logs.
     
  3. Click Select Action.
     
  4. From the drop-down menu, click View Report progress.
     
  5. From the Report progress view panel, click Download Logs.
     
  6. Click OK.

Additionally, you can examine the web server logs located under the Data Insight installation directory: INSTALLDIR\log. Typically the installation directory is located at C:\Program Files\Symantec\Data Insight\log.
