VxVM failed to register a character device major number.
Character devices are addressed by a major number and a minor number. On RedHat 3, each registered major number is limited to 256 minor numbers. To support more than 256 volumes, VxVM attempts to register multiple major numbers. On some systems, however, conflicts with other devices may exist, and VxVM may not be able to register one or more of its major numbers.
To prevent VxVM from attempting to register the conflicting major number, add the major number to the vxio_exclude_majors tunable in the /etc/vx/vxvm_tunables file.
