You can check whether the disk is reclaimable by entering:

vxdisk list

To solve the problem, make sure that:

  • Your array supports thin provisioning (TP) or thin reclamation (TR). You need to check the appropriate Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) in the table below.

  • The array firmware is the latest version and supports TR. You can contact the array vendor for the firmware information.

  • The array has the license to support TP or TR. You can check it with the vendor.

  • The latest VRTSaslapm or the Array Supported Library (ASL) package are installed. You can go to https://sort.veritas.com/asl and search for the latest.

After the check, retry the command.

If you see the message on some of the disks, it indicates that these disks in the disk group don’t support thin provisioning (TP) while others do. In that case you should configure the disk group with only the logical unit numbers (LUN) that support TP.
