Disk private region is too small

The input offset and length values specified in terms of sectors are adjusted to chunks under the following situations:

  • Initializing the disk private region.
  • Resizing the private region offset or length.
  • Setting default values for offset and length of private region.

If this recalculated private region length is greater than the actual disk private region length, or there is no enough space available in private region, this message is displayed.

If there is enough space on the disk for the private region, perform the following steps to solve the issue:

  1. Backup all the data on another disk.
  2. Reinitialize the given disk with larger private region.
  3. Recreate the volumes as per original configuration and then restore the data back to disk.

If private region length has reached maximum limit and cannot be grown further, you can replace the disk with a disk having larger private region. Or you can perform the following steps to solve the issue:

  1. If the disks are under any disk group, add more disks to disk group.
  2. Split the disk group so that the configuration copies present in private region of these disks can be moved to other disks and the private region will have available space.
