This message is displayed because on the secondary side volume, the user tries to start replication while some I/O continues. The secondary side volumes should not be online to start replication. It is not a supported use-case.

Stop any I/O on the secondary side volumes. To start replication, the secondary side volumes must be offline. Also, to prevent losing data on the secondary side volumes, use empty secondary side volumes.
