Error Code details
V-5-1-7829
Severity: Warning
Component: Volume Manager
Message:
Cannot exec %s to remove %s: %s
Description:

An error occurred while initializing the disk device.

The specified directory could not be removed because vxconfigd could not execute the rm utility. The absolute path to this utility is:

  • For AIX, LInux, and Solaris: /bin/rm

  • For HP-UX: /usr/bin/rm

The only side effect of a directory not being removed is that the directory and its contents continue to use space in the root file system.

However, the error does imply that the rm utility is missing or is not in its usual location.

For HP-UX systems, the error also implies that the /usr file system may not be mounted.

Both these issues present serious problems for running your system.
