The message is displayed due to either of the following reasons:

 

  1. You provide invalid (non-existing) device name.
  1. The changes in Solaris patch 147440-20 or later fail the disk initialization with the vxdisksetup –i command, while patch 147440-19 and older versions function correctly.

This solution is applicable to scenario 1 in Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) 5.1SP1 and later releases.

 

Make sure that you give correct existing device name.  If the issue persists, use the following command to initiate the rescanning of devices in the operating system device tree:

 

# vxdisk scandisks

To solve the issue, do either of the following:
