Description:

This message is displayed when the hostid entry in the /etc/vx/volboot file is corrupted. Possible reasons are:

 

  • A disk group is moved or migrated from one host to another, and the hostid entry is not updated accordingly.
     
  • The hostid entry in the file is deleted.

This solution is applicable to all rhel and sles platforms.

 

To solve the problem, correct the hostid entry:
 

  1. Enter:

# hostname
 

You’ll find the current hostid from the output.

 

  1. Enter:

vxdctl hostid hostid

 

If the problem persists, manually reinitialize the volboot file according to the host-specific values by entering:
 

# vxdctl init
