Error Code details
V-5-2-5241
Severity: Error
Component: Volume Manager
Message:
Cannot label as disk geometry cannot be obtained.
Description:

When you add new disks to a configuration, the disk should be labeled before they are used with Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM). VxVM can discover unlabeled disks, but it cannot read their disk geometry, nor can it initialize them.

When VxVM divers unlabeled disks, the disk configuration information is added to Dynamic Multipathing (DMP). If DMP tries to open the unlabeled device, the open fails, and the paths are disabled. If the system is subsequently restarted with the unlabeled disks, DMP disabled path messages are also displayed for the unlabeled disks.
