While changing the I/O policy for the disk, Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) waits for certain time to allow all the outstanding I/Os for the disk to be drained. This message is displayed when all I/Os for the disk are not drained even after timeout. As a result, changing of the I/O policy for the disk also fails with timeout error.

To solve the issue, do the following:


  1. Reduce the I/O load, then retry changing the disk I/O policy.
  2. If step 1 doesn’t work, try replacing the disk.
