If a user tries to add a dirty region log (DRL) to a mirrored volume through the command line, the error shown above is displayed. Additional attempts to add the DRL through the user interface are not allowed because the option is not available (grayed out).

This is not an error but a notification that further action is required. As described in the error message, the user needs to upgrade the disk group version to the current version of Storage Foundation for Windows. Note, however, if a disk group is upgraded to the current version, it can not be reverted to a previous version. This is a one-way process. After upgrade, earlier versions of Storage Foundation or VERITAS Volume Manager for Windows will be unable to import the disk group.

To upgrade a disk group,  simply select the disk group in the left-hand pane of the GUI. Right click on the disk group and select Upgrade Dynamic Disk Group Version
