Description:

This error message is displayed when you install or upgrade Storage Foundation products release 6.0 or 6.0RP1 in a Linux cluster environment with the following locales:
 

  • de_DE
     
  • fr_FR
     
  • pt_BR
     

The message is displayed because during the system verification stage, the following command is executed to get the IP address of the local system and determine if it is IPv4 or IPv6:


# ifconfig -a | grep 'inet addr'


The command output of ifconfig is localized on Linux (including RHEL5, RHEL6, SLES10, SLES11) under some European locales, including de_DE, fr_FR, and pt_BR; therefore, the command cannot get the IP address correctly.

Before you install or upgrade Storage Foundation products release 6.0 or 6.0RP1 in a Linux cluster environment with the de_DE, fr_FR, or pt_BR locale, set the LC_ALL environment variable to C.

For bash or ksh, enter:      LC_ALL=C; export LC_ALL

For csh, enter:                     setenv LC_ALL C

 

This message applies to platforms RHEL5, RHEL6, SLES10, and SLES11, and releases 6.0 and 6.0RP1.
